George Clooney’s drama Up In The Air led with six Golden Globe Award nominations, as contenders for the 67th annual event were announced at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills Tuesday morning.

The film’s six nominations include: best dramatic film, best actor in a drama (Clooney); best director (Jason Reitman); best screenplay; and a pair of best supporting actress nods, for Twilight’s Anna Kendrick and Vera Farmiga.

Meryl Streep will compete against herself in the best actress in a musical/comedy category, where she received nods for her work in It’s Complicated and Julie and Julia.  Meanwhile, Sandra Bullock also picked up two nominations — one for leading dramatic role in The Blind Side and as comedic actress in The Proposal.

Pop superstar Justin Timberlake, The Office’s John Krasinski and Inglourious Basterds stunner Diane Kruger were on hand to announce the contenders. The Golden Globes are traditionally a decent indicator of what to expect on Oscar night, as 67.4 percent of Academy Awards best picture winners have received a Golden Globe beforehand.

On the television side, The Hollywood Foreign Press Association honored AMC’s Mad Men with a leading three nominations: Best Drama, Best Actor (Jon Hamm)
and Best Actress (January Jones).

Critics’ darling 30 Rock may face some stuff competition at the Golden Globes as freshmen comedies Glee and Modern Family both scored nominations in the Best Comedy or Musical category.

HBO led with 17 nominations, followed by Fox and Showtime, each with six.

See the complete list of nominations.

The Golden Globe Awards will air January 17 on NBC at 8/7c.

KStew Is MTV News’ #7 Woman Of 2009

Posted in Movies, New Moon with tags , on December 15, 2009 by chasingcullens

Which stars had the biggest year? All this week, we’ll be unveiling our top nine men and women of 2009, counting down to the #1 man and woman on Friday.

7. Kristen Stewart

At 19 years old, she already has an amazing 23 films under her belt. Yet, Kristen Stewart entered 2009 with a lot of questions: Was “Twilight” a fluke? How would the notoriously press-shy starlet handle A-list fame? And would “New Moon” “kill” her, as she promised?

2009 Highlights: It all began in the snowy mountains of Park City, Utah, where a bundled-up KStew arrived at the Sundance Film Festival to discover that paparazzi were everywhere — quite a difference from early 2008, when she walked down the streets unbothered. The “Twilight” star was there to unveil “Adventureland,” a sweet coming-of-age drama that was well-received by critics and became a minor hit nationwide in April. Of course, 2010 will start out similarly for Kristen, as she’ll be at Sundance next month with two films.

TOP 9 WOMEN OF THE YEAR

9. The Kardashians
8. Susan Boyle
7. Kristen Stewart
6. stay tuned …

As the “New Moon” hype continued to build, KStew kept her indie cred intact. In March, she played a teenager suffering from a fatal nerve disease in “The Cake Eaters,” a tiny character drama directed by Mary Stuart Masterson. KStew researched her role by spending time with real-life sufferers of Friedreich’s ataxia and admitted that although she had a busy year ahead, she was glad the “Twilight” sequels were all filming so closely together.

Then, of course, the real craziness began. First came the MTV Movie Awards, where Kristen helped unveil first-look footage from “New Moon,” shared a tender moment with Robert Pattinson and proved she’s every bit as clumsy as Bella Swan. Later in the year, Kristen would return for the Video Music Awards alongside Rob and Taylor, this time considerably more glamorous.

Somewhere in-between all that, as she continued to shoot “Eclipse” and “The Runaways,” KStew swung into San Diego’s Comic-Con to hang out with 5,000 of her closest friends and unveil her new Joan Jett haircut.

A few chaotic months later, Kristen was at the “New Moon” premiere, looking beautiful as she walked the red carpet, and astronomical box-office predictions flew. On the verge of the sequel’s release, Kristen took time out from hitting Hot Topic and had plenty to say about Rob’s newfound confidence, whether she prefers Edward or Jacob, her desire to “do nothing,” and how the filming gave her whiplash.

So how did that little “New Moon” movie do? Well, a record-breaking opening and worldwide devotion from half-a-billion dollars’ worth of fans will certainly make Kristen’s busy 2009 feel worthwhile. As she recently told us, KStew doesn’t take it all too seriously — but clearly, her fans do.

Twilight OST Among Billboard’s Best

Posted in twilight with tags on December 15, 2009 by chasingcullens

Summit Entertainment/Atlantic Records

Muse, Robert Pattinson, Linkin Park, Paramore . . . you know the names. These are all fantastic artists that made their way onto a little soundtrack called Twilight last year. A soundtrack which made its way to the top of the Billboard 200 list (to be followed by its certified platinum sequel New Moon), into the Grammy nominations list, as a winner at the American Music Awards, and, of course, into the memorized minds and affected hearts of millions of Twilight fans.

Adding to the heavy list of accolades is this: the Twilight soundtrack has been placed on Billboard’s “Best of the 2000’s” soundtrack edition, and it made it all the way up to seventh place!

Just behind the soundtracks for O Brother, Where Art Thou?, High School Musical, 8 Mile, Hannah Montana, High School Musical 2, and Hannah Montana 2 (okay, so no one said these were all the greatest choices), Twilight comes in taking the lead above heavy-hitters like Shrek, Chicago, Moulin Rouge, The Lizzie McGuire Movie, Mamma Mia!, The Cheetah Girls, Hannah Montana: The Movie, Coyote Ugly, Bad Boys II, Ray, Tupac: Resurrection, High School Musical 3: Senior Year, Get Rich Or Die Tryin’, The Cheetah Girls 2, Walk The Line, Camp Rock, and Garden State.

So, now all we need is that Grammy! January 31st here we come!

PFach Talks 2010 Plans

Posted in Breaking Dawn with tags on December 15, 2009 by chasingcullens
Peter Facinelli at The Twilight Saga: New Moon premiere
AP

Hopefully, the year 2010 will be a little more, well, relaxed for The Twilight Saga: New Moon, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, and Nurse Jackie star Peter Facinelli.

Glory only knows that the year 2009 was a hectic, country-crossing, Twitter-filled year for the Twilight star. Between running around the continent in support of his favorite charities (particularly Alex’s Lemonade) and filming both Nurse Jackie and Eclipse at the same time (despite the fact that the first shoots in NYC and the latter shot in Vancouver), he was one busy guy.

When Twilight Lexicon asked Facinelli what the year 2010 held in store for Facinelli, he revealed that his plans stood waiting in the balance of what his commitments held in store for him – particularly with The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn and a possible third season of his Showtime series hit Nurse Jackie.

Right now I’m looking forward to the holiday break. Next year there’s a couple of movies I’m looking at doing in the spring. There’s a movie that I wrote that I’m trying to get off the ground. I’d like to do a movie in the spring to early summer and then hopefully, you know, if we do Nurse Jackie III I’ll be back in the fall. And if we do Breaking Dawn I’ll be back in the fall/winter hopefully. Everything’s kind of up in the air with the end of Nurse Jackie III and Breaking Dawn. So that… I have to sit and wait. But right now I have a window between January and August that I can stuff. Right now I’m just seeing what I want to do.

Facinelli also talked to them about his experiences on-set the Twilight saga, his use of Twitter, and more, and you can read the full interview here.

Rachelle Lefevre
Associated Press

Goodness knows The Twilight Saga: New Moon and Barney’s Version star Rachelle Lefevre is an animal lover. So, this isn’t the first time she’s stepped up for animal welfare causes, and it probably won’t be the last.

Right now, Lefevre is involved in a campaign to benefit an animal welfare charity entitled Best Friends Animal Society.

She’s auctioning off a coffee date with her where there are no holds barred as far as the direction of the conversation (assuming it’s tactful, of course) – meaning, ask away about anything and everything regarding Lefevre’s career.

According to one source, the auction is taking place through eBay until December 17th at 9:00 p.m. EST.

Here are the details offered by eBay’s listing:

New Moon Stars Top Yet Another Search Engine

Posted in New Moon with tags , , on December 15, 2009 by chasingcullens
Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart in The Twilight Saga: New Moon
Summit Entertainment

The cast of The Twilight Saga: New Moon and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse dominated the 20 Most Searched Celebrities list for Teen Vogue.

The most searched celeb was Kristen Stewart, and Taylor Lautner was the third-most searched (behind Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince star Emma Watson). Surprisingly enough, Robert Pattinson was sixth on the list.

Of course, this year has been a rather huge one for the “big three.” Not only did The Twilight Saga: New Moon come out this year, but they also filmed The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, and Twilight was released to DVD this March. That same weekend, Kristen Stewart’s The Cake Eaters came to DVD, and, also in the spring, her comedy/drama Adventureland with Jesse Eisenberg released to theaters. Robert Pattinson’s Little Ashes was also released this spring, and his film How To Be made its way onto the Independent Film Channel and finally to DVD as well. Meanwhile, he also filmed Remember Me. Kristen Stewart filmed The Runaways this summer with Dakota Fanning before they both returned for Eclipse, and Taylor Lautner filmed Valentine’s Day (alongside an all-star line-up). So to see that the three are topping search engine interest lists (like the one on IMDb also) isn’t altogether surprising, is it?

Apparition Picked Up U.S. Rights To The Runaways

Posted in Movies with tags , , on December 15, 2009 by chasingcullens

Thompson on Hollywood

It’s no surprise that Apparition picked up all U.S. rights to Kristen Stewart vehicle The Runaways, which was fully financed by River Road and produced with Linson Entertainment. It’s the first Apparition/River Road theatrical collaboration (Terrence Malick’s Tree of Life, due in 2010, will be their second). The deal closed two weeks ago.

Here’s the deal. As excited as all of Stewart’s Twilight followers are at the prospect of seeing her as groundbreaking rocker Joan Jett—both Stewart-starrers The Runaways and Welcome to the Rileys are the most scheduled and visited films on the Sundance site—this is a low-budget indie movie made for less than $10 million. The music picture barely got finished in time to show fest programmers, and will be mixing right up to the delivery of a wet print at the festival, which opens January 21. The good news: Apparition chief Bob Berney can use the fest as a launch pad for the indie film’s March 19 release.  And yes, it looks like exec producer Joan Jett will do her best to perform there.

The Runaways goes back to the 70s when tough-as-nails Jett and her Southern California teenage bandmates (New Moon co-star Dakota Fanning plays sex-kitten Cherie Currie) were among the first hard-rocking all-girl bands. They actually flew to Tokyo to perform at age 15. Michael Shannon (Revolutionary Road) also stars as rock impresario Kim Fowley.

The R-rated movie is “definitely indie in style, filmed artfully and stylistically,” says Berney. “It’s edgy and rough, with female appeal for Stewart’s audience.” Adapted from Currie’s autobiography by Floria Sigismondi, the film was also directed by the music-videomaker (David Bowie, The White Stripes and Christina Aguilera). The film is produced by John Linson, Art Linson and Bill Pohlad.

twilight.jpg

The Internet Movie Database has announced the Top Stars of 2009, which are determined by the site’s unique visitors.

Johnny Depp may be the “Sexiest Man Alive,” but Robert Pattinson is the most sought-after. Hunky “Twilight” franchise vampire Robert Pattinson was at the top of the list, ending the five-year domination by Johnny Depp. R-Patz was joined by on-screen lady love Kristen Stewart at No. 2. Who else made the list?

“Twilight: New Moon” stars dominated the Top 25, representing almost 25% of the list. In fact, “Twilight” stars made-up 40% of the Top 10 with Robert Pattinson (No. 1), Kristen Stewart (No. 2), Taylor Lautner (No. 5) and Dakota Fanning (No. 8). Ashley Greene and Nikki Reed also made the list, at No. 11 and No. 15 respectively.

We’re a bit surprised Kellan Lutz isn’t on there. He’s just as hunky as Pattinson and Lautner. Also, who knew Dakota Fanning would be so high on the list? Notable absences: “Harry Potter” actors.

STARmeter Top 25 for 2009:

1. Robert Pattinson
2. Kristen Stewart
3. Johnny Depp
4. Megan Fox
5. Taylor Lautner
6. Brad Pitt
7. Christian Bale
8. Dakota Fanning
9. Zooey Deschanel
10. Ryan Reynolds
11. Ashley Greene
12. Angelina Jolie
13. Gerard Butler
14. Leonardo DiCaprio
15. Nikki Reed
16. Shia LaBeouf
17. Scarlett Johansson
18. Tom Cruise
19. Miley Cyrus
20. Seth Rogen
21. Nicolas Cage
22. Will Smith
23. Clint Eastwood
24. Heath Ledger
25. Jennifer Aniston

Any big surprises? We’re glad to see the senior circuit get some love with Clint Eastwood.

Robert Pattinson in Remember Me
Summit Entertainment

Here’s a chance you don’t get everyday: Robert Pattinson (Edward Cullen in The Twilight Saga: New Moon and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse) will be answering fans’ Remember Me questions via Facebook video in the near future, and yours could be one of them.

All you have to do is become a “fan” of Remember Me’s Facebook page and submit your questions there for the chance to have Robert Pattinson answer them on video.

As you know, Pattinson headlines Remember Me, a dramatic film by Summit Entertainment which is to be released on March 12, 2010. He is joined by Lost star Emilie de Ravin, Pierce Brosnan, and Chris Cooper in the film.

Brosnan recently spoke out about Robert Pattinson’s performance in Remember Me, saying “I think when you see Remember Me, you’ll see Robert giving a fantastic performance.”
