Robert won’t be main focus in New Moon

Robert Pattinson by ~*MaGiCaLLy DeLiCiOuS*~.Robert Pattinson won’t be made the focus to The Twilight Saga: New Moon, despite fans’ calls to bolster the actor’s role in the movie.

Director Chris Weitz told MTV it was important that the film honoured the original plot outlined in Stephenie Meyer’s book.

In New Moon, Pattinson’s vampire character Edward Cullen appears as a subjective figure in girlfriend Bella Swan’s (Kristen Stewart) imagination.

“[We wanted to avoid] just randomly inserting Rob throughout the movie in a back-at-the-ranch sort of way, which would just be about box office and us being worried about whether people would deal with the darkness of the second book,” Weitz said.

“People are actually very ready for [the dark] aspect of it.”

New Moon strikes a “very fine balance between too much Rob and too little Rob”, the director continued.

“Well, I know for a lot of people there’s no such thing as too much Rob,” he said.

“But we’ve got a nice dose of Taylor (Lautner, who plays werewolf Jacob Black) to sweeten any Rob deficiencies.

“It is a disease that can only be treated with Vitamin T, for Taylor.”

New Moon, which is the second part of the Twilight Saga, is due to be released in cinemas on November 20.
